JetSki Licence (PWCL)

1. ONLINE THEORY COURSE

The theory course is self-paced and conducted online. You'll learn all about:

• Safe operation and maintenance of a PWC
• PWC specific rules and regulations
• rules of the road (COLREGs)
• navigation aids and buoyage
• emergency responses

The online component is self paced, but should take roughly 1-2 hours of learning time to complete.

The online course contains learning modules and quizzes to solidify your knowledge at each step. Be sure to pay close attention as you will be tested on your knowledge of each of these modules on your practical assessment day.

GoBoat Academy trainers are always happy to provide extra understanding where needed.

2. PRACTICAL SESSION

Once you have completed the online theory course, you can book in for your practical session. 

The practical session is delivered in-person by one of our qualified trainers and gives you the opportunity to learn and grow on your skills under supervision. You will also be tested on your theory and practical skills.

The session will start with a written exam – testing your knowledge of what your learned during the online theory course.

Following the theory exam, you will head aboard with GoBoat Academy trainers to learn, practice, and then demonstrate a range of practical PWC manoeuvres. Each manoeuvre is competency based, and demonstration of competency is required to pass.

The practical session will usually run for 2-4 hours depending on the number of students.

Once you’ve successfully completed your theory and practical assessments, you will be provided with a certificate to take to the Department of Transport and Main Roads to apply for your PWCL.
