A GoBoat Gift Card is valid for 3 years, and our guests can always add on extra time, food and beverages, or merchandise when making their booking. It's completely flexible!

FAQs

How many people can fit on a boat?

The maximum capacity on each boat is 8 people. This limit includes children and is a legal requirement for our boats. Picking up additional guests is not permitted and may result in the loss of your security deposit. You could also be liable for a fine.

Do I need a boat licence?

No, you don’t need a boat licence or any previous boating experience to drive a GoBoat. Our friendly crew will provide you with clear instructions and demonstrate how to drive the boat when you arrive.

What happens if it rains?

You can reschedule your booking for any reason without penalty up to 24 hours before departure, so we encourage all guests to keep an eye on the forecast leading up to their booking.

If the weather is unsafe at the time of sailing, you will also be offered the opportunity to reschedule.

For extra peace of mind, we recommend adding our optional Cancellation Protection. This allows you to reschedule or cancel for a refund for any reason up to 4 hours before departure.

Is there parking available?

There is a small undercover car park inside the Mercedes building (access from Durong Street), with free parking available for GoBoat guests. There is also paid street parking available on surrounding streets. Please allow additional time for parking, particularly on weekends and public holidays.

If you are taking public transport, the closest stop is Breakfast Creek Rd at Newstead House, stop 12 (approx. 300m walk). You can plan your trip using Google Maps or the Translink website.

Can you bring your own food and drinks?

Of course you can! There is a large table in the middle of the boat that makes it easy to eat, and we all know the best social activities involve food.

Can I bring alcohol onboard?

Yes, you can bring up to 2 standard drinks per person onboard. The nominated skipper must remain sober for the duration of your booking.

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely! We love having fur-captains onboard. Dogs and other pets do not count towards the 8 person capacity limit.

Can I swim or fish from the boat?

Unfortunately, swimming and fishing are not permitted from our boats. Additional fees and penalities may apply, including cleaning fees, cancellation of your booking, and forfeiture of your security deposit.

Do I need a security deposit?

Yes, just like when hiring a car or checking in to a hotel, we will place a small hold (pre-authorisation) on your credit or debit card in case of any damage.

For credit cards, the hold is $1. For debit cards, the hold is $200. This is released from our side immediately upon the safe return of the boat, and the funds are usually accessible again within 3-5 business days. If a pending transaction still appears after this time, please contact your bank for further assistance.

Due to payment provider limitations, some locations require a physical credit or debit card for pre-authorisation. Please bring your chosen physical card with you on the day to ensure a smooth and seamless check-in process.
